Implementation

Make the field-to-office handoff reviewable.

Built with
Public demo: HTML/CSS/JavaScript · Main application source: Next.js / React / TypeScript
Interaction decisions
The main application uses Next.js and React. A separate HTML/JavaScript manager interface presents the public sample-data workflow.
Iteration & learning
The review queue keeps incomplete job details visible before billing preparation. Submitting a field report and accepting it for the office are separate decisions.
Scope
A separate sample-data environment. Client operations, records and source remain private; no live payment or billing activity is connected.

01 / The idea

From fieldwork to office-ready.

Field activity has to become something the office can review. Jobs, crew time, photographs, tickets, and billing details lose context when they live in separate places.

02 / The approach

The choices behind it.

Keep the job as the common thread. Capture field evidence, surface exceptions for a manager, and prepare a reviewable office packet before export.

  1. Schedule the job
  2. Capture field proof
  3. Review exceptions
  4. Prepare the office packet

03 / Where it stands

What works today.

A paid field-operations build. The public demo uses sample data to show the workflow; it is separate from private client operations.

Public evidence uses sample data. Client operations remain private; adoption and time savings are not measured here.

Inside the decision: keep the job as the common thread

Why that structure?

Field notes, crew time, photos, and tickets are useful to the office when they retain the job they belong to. VacTrack organizes those surfaces around the job and makes blocked work and ready-for-review packets visible to a manager.

The tradeoff

Manager review adds a deliberate checkpoint before office preparation. Capturing a field submission and accepting it for billing are different steps. The demo exposes that handoff so a reviewer can inspect the workflow.

Try it: open the demo, inspect a scheduled job, then compare Crew Help with Ready for Review. The sample data makes the handoffs visible without exposing client records.
